Kobudo is the classical weapon tradition of Okinawan martial arts. The study of Kobudo was developed from farm and fishing tools used as a defense against the sword of the Japanese. Today on Okinawa Karate and Kobudo are considered 'intangible cultural assets.'

The practice of Kobudo provides the student with a wide variety of benefits:

  • Improved physical fitness

  •  Flexibility

  •  Hand-eye coordination through the manipulation of weapons

  • Defensive improvisation skills through the usage of unlikely implements as weapons

  • Increased cultural awareness through the preservation of Okinawa culture
